As I walked down the street, I heard a weak barking sound coming from an area next door. As I followed the sound, I came across a sad scene. A thin, bony stray dog was lying on the ground and trying hard to get up. It had a lot of skin diseases and almost no hair left on its body. As the poor thing cried and tried to move, my heart broke.

I was wary as I approached the dog because I didn’t know what to expect. Of course, it was clear that the dog needed food, drink, and maybe even medical help. It wasn’t even able to take a sip of the water I tried to give it. The dog was way too skinny, and you could see its ribs, which meant it hadn’t eaten in days, if not longer.

I had to do something. Quickly, I left the scene of the crime and rode a bicycle to get the dog some food and water. In my return, I found that Dayao, who also loves animals, had joined me in my efforts to save them. We fed the dog and tried to make it feel better together.

The little child was so hungry that it ate the food we gave it right away. It looked like it had been moving around for a long time, looking for food. After giving the dog some time to heal, we saw that it was still weak and couldn’t move steadily.

We could tell the dog had been in a lot of pain for a long time because of its bad skin condition. Not sure if it was lost or left behind, but one thing was clear: it needed help badly.

We chose to take the dog to the shelter so that it could get the care and attention it needed. When we saw the dog stumble towards us, too weak to even stand up straight, it broke our hearts. Before we came along, it looked like it had given up all hope.

We knew it was worth it even though the hike to the shelter was long and hard. We gave the dog another chance at life. A small bit of love and kindness can make a big difference in the life of an animal that is defenceless.

This experience with the lost dog changed me for a long time. That made me think about how important it is to care for and respect animals, no matter what their past or current situation is. That being said, everyone can make a difference, even if their efforts seem small.
